Mary Ann E. Zagaria, PharmD, MS, RPh, CGP
Dr. Zagaria is extensively published, both nationally and internationally, in the area of geriatrics, senior care pharmacy, pharmacotherapeutics, and health literacy, with over 100 publications including articles, book chapters, and introductions. She has inaugurated the monthly Senior Care pharmacy column in the national, peer-reviewed journal U.S. Pharmacist and the Issues in Pharmacotherapy column in the American Journal for Nurse Practitioners and continues to write both to date. Dr. Zagaria is a member of the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) and presents nationally at healthcare association meetings. She has been interviewed on radio, television, and in print media regarding a variety of pharmacy-related issues. Dr. Zagaria has presented on Capital Hill, briefing congressional staff and national association representatives about implementing Medication Therapy Management (MTM) Services related to the Medicare Part D legislation. She was invited to participate as an at-large delegate for the “Pharmacy in the 21st Century” profession-wide strategic planning conference and is an appointed member of the Dean's Advisory Council at St. John’s University College of Pharmacy. Dr. Zagaria is the recipient of the national Excellence in Geriatric Pharmacy Practice Award presented by the Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy in 2008. She is an active member of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) and served on their Professional Development Committee and Senior Care Pharmacy Task Force. She is also a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the peer-reviewed journal U.S. Pharmacist. Dr. Zagaria holds
a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Pharmacy from
St. John’s University College of Pharmacy in New York City, and
a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from Shenandoah University School
of Pharmacy in Winchester, Virginia. Dr. Zagaria is board certified
in geriatric pharmacy (CGP) and has completed the ASCP Research &
Education Foundation’s GeroPsych/Behavioral Disorders Traineeship
at McLean Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, in Belmont,
Massachusetts.
